December 2004
I started dismantling the car. This stage can be pleasant and frustrating as well. you can find many surprises... In my case it was not so bad, but each one lowers morale :) Till end of December I dismantled almost whole interior and the bodywork parts like bumpers, windows, etc. TEngine and rest of electric is still to be dismantled. Big THANK YOU to Michał, who helped me, especially with the dashboard :)

January 2005
January started with the spare parts purchase.
Paweł from Kraków sold his Fuego and he wanted to sell remainings as well.I took everything, below you can find a list:

  • front fenders - average/poor condition, but still a bit better than mine
  • lef blinker - finally I have two identical :D
  • front light - average condition, but the mirror and glas can be used in the future
  • rear bumper - good
  • rear lights - good
  • rear bar - finally complete and pretty
  • side bars - very good
  • left doors - damaged, but perhaps can be used during renovation - mine are poor at the bottom
  • steering wheel - average, but can stay
  • plastics form the trunk - different colour, but still good to have
  • fan/heating control panel - looks fine, but different version
  • rear window with the wiper mechanism - good condition, hopefully the mechanism will work ( thanks to Michał it works)
  • set of windows except of the fron one - looking fine
  • rear springs - very dirty, but seems to be fine
  • half shafts - to be checked
  • power steering cylinder - to be checked
  • starter - look ok - to be checkedi
  • carburettor - average condition, most likely not for Turbo
  • lower rocker arms x 3 - good condition - one still with a new pin
  • upper cocker - ok
  • radiator and intercooler fans - complete with fittings - look fine
  • front brake caliper x 2 - average condition
  • water pump - waste
  • ignition distributor - looks fine

I also took a lot of other things, but just to be thrown away. Paweł also has almost new Walker exhaust silencer, but I wast already broken.
I would like to say thank you to Tomek for logistical help with all this stuff :)

The nice Walker silencer is finally in my hands.

Unfortunately for a long time nothing has happened with Fuego restoration... Continuous problems with garage make me sad, but I hope to start once again ath the begining of 2006.

April 2006
And it all started again!
I started with....buying a second Fuego :)
After talking to the whitesmith and painter I made up the decission. The time to complete the dismantling job and giving the car to the specialist has come.
I started on my own to dismantle the eqipment from the engine and the exhaust system.
Michał helped me with ripping the engine off - I owe him a BIG THANK U for help !!!
Pulling car uphill, standing next to the wall, with one wheel locked was a big and exhausting challenge. We tried to use second Fuego to pull it, but the only result was a smoke from the burning cluth...Anyway, we did it!
We still have to take the gearbox and the remaining electrics out and at the very begining of May the car will be towed to the whitesmith's workshop.

May 2006
I had a pleasure to meet Jan in Holland - fantastic guy completely addicted to Fuego. I saw his wonderful Fuegos and bought few parts in mint condition - soon I will some pictures.

Tohether wit Michał we started to work on the brakes in GTS. So far without results. We have to exchange the front hoses, check the pump and renew the front calipers - except that the brakes are as new.

The Turbo had it's first plastic surgery - first welds are ready. Still lot of work for the tinman.

June 2006
I have just copied the Turbo sticker - soon it will be readyto download for peoplewho need it (not so many people :) )

Next free weekend with Michał we will continue the battle for the brakes in GTS ( hope to win)
